Stress analysis of plastic optical fibers (POFs) has been performed and a prospect for sensor applications has been obtained for POFs with microstructures.

Mr. Nakanishi, a second-year master’s student, is the first author of this paper, which is the result of joint by Ritsumeikan University, Yokohama National University, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Science Tokyo, and National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan).
